“I am not what happened to me, I am what I chose to become” — Carl Gustav Jung

This quote aptly describes our Computer trainer Mr Mansoor Sahab. Mansoor lost his both eyes when he was just 16 years old in a freak accident. The unfortunate incident happened when he was decorating his classroom ceiling. He lost the balance and fell down to a hard floor injuring himself badly. He consulted several doctors, underwent three eye surgeries but eyesight couldn’t get restored.

Mansoor is perfect example of grit and determination. He lost his eyes but not hope. He says that if one has everything then also they crib. After the accident, Mansoor went to National School of Blind. There he did information and technology course. After the completion of course, he joined Mitra Jyothi as a computer teacher in 2012. Since 2012, Mansoor has trained 500 visually impaired students.

Mansoor says Ms Madhu Singhal, Founder of Mitra Jyothi is his inspiration and role model as well. He is always thankful to Mitra Jyothi for giving him an opportunity to be an example of many more aspiring Visually Impaired people.

Most of the students who got trained at Mitra Jyothi and from Mansoor are in remarkable positons currently, here we would like to share few examples. Khalid Bhatt, a student from Kashmir is working in a bank and he says that the knowledge he gained at Mitra Jyothi helps in many ways. Another Vi student, Nikita Goyal, from Kota, Rajasthan is working as an accountant and another student Selvaraj is working as financial advisor in Mandya.

Mansoor wants to achieve more in life. Now he is preparing for BCA. Mansoor says,’ If someone doesn’t have eyes then they think their life is finished’. Mansoor is quite opposite to this.

Mr. Masoor’s life story was published in Kannada newspaper Vijaya Vani and the above is a summary of it. We wish Mr Mansoor to follow his heart and achieve his ultimate goal. Our good wishes are with him and we are confident that we will fulfil his dream.
